Evergreen Programs & Initiatives:


Mentorships and Regular Training

Employees have access to regular, on-going education and training with industry-specific programs designed to keep safety top-of-mind.  Through a formalized safety mentorship program, we train and evaluate new, inexperienced workers, as well as those who have been promoted to new positions.  We watch them on the job, as they work until we know they are competent and safe.

Our employees know how to identify and avoid potential hazards for themselves and the people around them, and every employee knows that he has the right — and obligation — to refuse work that he feels is unsafe.

Personal Safety Initiative

Our Personal Safety Initiative (PSI) program promotes workplace safety through a corrective actions database.  We regularly record employee interactions and evaluations through inspections and interviews. This detailed record-keeping helps managers identify, at-a-glance, any individual or corporate trends that require risk management, either by eliminating the hazard or controlling it.

Safe Driving Practices

Driving safely is integral to our operations and to worker safety. Our Safe Driver Program puts the emphasis on safety, rather than punishment.  We use GPS to continually track and monitor equipment and operators.  Driving violations are reported immediately to the senior management team via e-mail. Corrective action is also immediate.

Safety Equipment Inventory

We actively maintain an inventory of over 100 four-head gas monitors which are subject to daily bump tests, are recalibrated regularly, and when necessary, repaired promptly.

Modified Work Program

Temporarily disabled employees are able to return to work sooner through our Modified Work Program.  Returning to light-duty work minimizes employees’ loss of productivity and income while reducing  Worker Compensation Board costs.   We monitor employees’ performance during their light-duty periods for side effects and possible recurring injury, and we continue to watch their health for a few months after a physician has cleared them to resume regular duties.
